About Us \ Staff

Laura Depta (Artistic Director) is an actor and producer who has received critical acclaim locally for her work in Actors Theatre's productions of Thumbs, Book of Days and the Laramie Project, as well as Theatre Charlotte's Blithe Spirit. Laura is co-founder and former artistic associate for Fifty Foot Penguin Theater in Minneapolis and is a graduate of the North Carolina School of the Arts. She has additionally worked and studied under Peter Hedges in New York and at the Moscow Art Theatre School, where she played Pauline in The Seagull. Laura's last performance in the Twin Cities was as a lead role in Down the Road and Tone Clusters for which received critical recognition in the Minneapolis City Pages' "Best of 2001." Before that, she co-produced and played the lead role in "Gospel of the Messiah Widow."
Stan Peal (Managing Director, Resident Playwright) has a Bachelor's degree in Theatre from Carroll College in Wisconsin. Stan has toured the country as an actor and singer, has written and published plays and sketches for radio, theaters and churches nationwide and has directed for professional and community theaters as well as national and local touring shows. Stan is a former board member and artistic associate for Bald Alice theatre company in Minneapolis and wrote and directed their 2001 premiere production of "Gospel of the Messiah Widow."
Julie Janorschke (Development Director) has been a member of Barebones Theatre Group, serving as their Development Director, and was previously a member of the Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati. Julie was named Creative Loafing’s Theatre Person of the Year in 2003 and has received critical recognition for her acting and directing with such groups as Actor’s Theatre, Chickspeare and Davidson Community Players, as well as BareBones and Epic Arts.

Joe Rux (Artistic Associate)
Joe is a native Minnesotan who has transplanted himself to Charlotte from New York City. With a Bachelor of Arts degree in theater from St. John’s University and a Master of Fine Arts degree in acting from Purdue University, Joe has been seen on regional stages throughout the country. In Charlotte, Joe has appeared in Lifegame at BareBones, Take Me Out at Actors Theatre and Scratchy Scratcherton's Revenge at Epic Arts Rep as well as A Midsummer Night's Musical as Demetrius

In New York City he appeared in several Off Broadway productions including the role of Garry in the award winning production of Noises Off with the Gallery Players and as an ensemble member of the award-winning production of The Laramie Project. Donning a producers hat, Joe also created, directed and performed in two original cabarets: Alone. Together. Again. and Far from the Tree, at the well-known Duplex Cabaret Theater in the heart of Greenwich Village in Manhattan.

Annette Saunders (Marketing Director) has recently added directing to her repertoire, recently helming an entry in Theatre Charlotte’s 9x9 series. Already established as an actor and choreographer in Charlotte, Annette recently earned critical praise for her performance in BareBones Theatre’s Empty Plate in the Café du Grand Boeuf, and has been nominated for her work as choreographer in such productions as Epic Arts’ A Mad, Mad Madrigal and Scratchy Scratcherton’s Revenge
